Angels Landing Permit Info

 Zion National Park is piloting a permit program to hike Angels Landing starting April 1, 2022. The program provides a fair process that will improve visitor experience and protect park resources along Angels Landing. Permits will be required at all times of the year and times of day. Hikers must have a permit when accessing any portion of the Angels Landing trail starting on April 1 2022.

In order to book an Angels landing tour with Zion Guru you must obtain a permit!

As shown in the map below a permit is only required if you want to hike the “chain section” of the Angels Landing. You do not need a permit to hike up the west rim trail towards Scout Lookout. The view from the top of the chain section (Angels Landing) is unparalleled however you can see some exceptional views from the west rim trail above scout lookout as an alternative.

The steps below will help you get your permit!

Step 1:

Click here to obtain a permit through Zion National Park

Once on this page scroll down to this section and select “Seasonal Lottery”:

Step 2:

On this dropdown select the hyperlink that applies to the date you plan to hike:

Step 3:

Set-up/login to recreation.gov and select your date preferences, permit holders and pay your entry fees.
Important note: finalizing this step is not a guarantee that you will obtain a permit! It is simply an entry into the permit lottery system. Recreation.gov will notify you if you are awarded a permit!


Angels landing can either be done “Self guided” on your own or you can book a tour with Zion Guru if you would like and expert guide to join you on this adventure!
